I met tom hayden last friday and to tell u the truth he's very informative but he's boring. I do not think of him as a civil rights leader because he didn't do enough to lead sure he was part of the civil rights movement but being a leader and a being part of a movement are much different.

I think the statement that tom hayden said " one leader is not as important as the hundreds or thousands of people behind them".

He means that one leader can try to do something but without people to support him he won't be successful. for example if one person signs a petition it wont work as well if a hundred people sign the petition.
